Sinners by Lauren Aquilina

Album Title: Sinners

Artist: : Lauren Aquilina

Genre: Indie, pop

Release Date: July 22 2013

The Review: Many people have not heard of Lauren Aquilina, and if they have it is mainly for her album Fools, which was released about a year previously. This is unfortunate, because she is a wonderful musician. She has a soulful voice that is perfect for her band of melancholy pop and indie music.

Sinners was her third album released. I first found her music through the song Irrelevant which was featured on this album. After falling in love with the song I search for other songs by Lauren and found this treasure. Although I do enjoy her other albums this remains my favorite. Sinners, as a whole, is a prime sample of songs that are as beautiful as they are sad, and how well Lauren Aquilina shapes lyrics and music.

Final Review: 8/10

Favorite Song: My favorite song on this album is Sinners, the namesake of this album. It is the only song that is not about the struggles of relationships. Instead this song focuses on the joy of being in love, consequences be damned. The beauty in this song in the unapologetic selfishness of the narrator. It really does show how wonderful it can be to be happy for the sake of being happy, even if it is not going to last forever.
